William “Bill” Smothermon, Jr., is a current shareholder in BMS, and has been in the Accounting industry since June of 1979. He serves as an advisor and consultant to clients providing assistance in tax planning, general business strategy, management consulting and acquisition analysis. He has significant experience in planning for family businesses, personal planning for key personnel and small business management.
Mr. Smothermon began his career in 1979 serving as Tax Senior at Arthur Anderson and Company in Dallas. In 1981 he moved to KPMG Peat Marwick Main and Company, where he assumed the role of Senior Manager where he served for seven years before joining James Brosowske in the formation of BMS.
Mr. Smothermon received his undergraduate degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. In 1979 he received his MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a Certified Public Accountant in both Texas and Colorado, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is also a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and is active in the Dallas Chapter of the TSCPA where he provides leadership in several areas.
